Do I have to audition for the theatre?

Yes, to join the ACT Academy, young artists are asked to audition. Auditions for the Session 1: Beginner session will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2009.  Session 1 will begin September 4th and end March 15, 2009.  Auditions for the Session 2: Saturday April 10, 2010 

Applicants must prepare and perform a 1 to 2 minute memorized monologue, a 1 to 2 minute dance routine and perform a song to be sung acapella, which is without musical accompaniment. Auditions are held before a three- to five-member panel of impartial observers.

These observers rate an actor's performances based upon preparedness, enthusiasm, diction, projection, agility and creativity. Audition material presented must contain no profanity. There is no fee to audition.

Auditions for the Asante Touring Company are  required as well. Touring Company participants must be at least 18 years of age, and a high school graduate or equivalent and may be alumni of the Asante Children's Theatre Academy or not.
